Welcome to the Harvest issue of The Austin Arcana: a lunar-timed guide to Austin’s most magical happenings, where ritual meets real life for the city’s conscious and curious souls.

As we slip into Thanksgiving week, the energy shifts into hearth magic: warmth, gratitude, gathering, and remembering what truly nourishes us.

Before we dive into this week’s magic…

A Thanksgiving Blessing

May your home feel warm, and your quiet feel peaceful. May your table be a place of nourishment rich with food, laughter, and people who truly see you.

May gratitude settle into your body like a soft, steady glow.
May you acknowledge the land beneath you, the ancestors behind you, and the stories that carried you to this moment.

And may abundance reach you in ways that feel gentle, generous, and wholly deserved.

P.S. As the holiday season moves into full swing, we’re highlighting ways to support our Austin community. If you’re hosting a food, toy, or clothing drive, open friendsgiving for folks with no family in town, have volunteer opportunities, or community-centered asks, reply to this email and share them with us.

We’ll spotlight them on IG (@austin.arcana) and in The Altar section below.

Many of us try to practice gratitude throughout the year, but something about this season is just… different.

The air shifts. The leaves turn.
Trees begin shedding the weight of a year lived, preparing to stand bare for winter.
And somehow, gratitude becomes easier to access.

A similar transformation happens within us.
Communities soften. Moods shift.
We reflect on everything we’ve accomplished, or everything we didn’t.

For some, this is a joyous time of reconnection, warm kitchens, slow mornings, and the rare gift of uninterrupted time with people we love.
For others, this season brings stress, loneliness, complicated family dynamics, or the quiet ache of unmet expectations.

I’ve lived enough lives to know the holidays can hold all of it.
Joy, grief, softness, overwhelm.

So wherever you fall on that spectrum this year, I see you.

Savor what you can.
One day you’ll long for more time with family.
One day you’ll crave the quiet.
One day you’ll look back and be proud of how far you’ve come.

My wish is that you offer yourself the gift of presence, honoring exactly where you are.

This week carries the energy of slowness, gratitude, and gentle abundance.
Late autumn invites us to pause, soften, and notice the things that quietly sustain us.
The meals shared, the homes that hold us, the people who feel like warmth.

It’s a moment to cherish what’s already here, reconnect with what nourishes us, and remember that tending to what’s simple is its own form of magic.

New Moons are your monthly reset.
A time to plant seeds and begin again. Cosmic blank pages.

New Moon energy is soft, inward, intuitive, and perfect for setting aligned intentions that unfold over the next lunar cycle.

Scorpio Season → Sagittarius Season

We’re in a powerful transitional window from Scorpio season (ending Nov 21) into Sagittarius season (beginning Nov 21).

This week sits right on the cusp. It’s that moment where depth turns into expansion, shadow softens into spark, and the emotional excavation of Scorpio transforms into the optimism of Sagittarius.

Scorpio helped us shed, release, and confront what’s been lingering beneath the surface.

Sagittarius lifts us out of Scorpio’s depths and into renewed vision and inspiration.

It’s the shift from inner work → outward momentum.

🔮 Several retrogrades are still pulling us inward:

  • Mercury: review communication, thinking patterns, and unfinished conversations; hidden truths surface

  • Jupiter: reassessing growth, purpose, + what feels meaningful

  • Saturn: revisiting commitments, boundaries, + long-term responsibilities

  • Neptune: dissolving illusions; intuitive and emotional clarity rising where confusion once was

  • Uranus: internal shifts before external change; rethinking freedom, identity, and the unexpected

  • Chiron: old wounds resurfacing for healing, integration, and softer self-understanding

In short: This cluster of retrogrades creates a “review, refine, recalibrate” moment, clearing space before new forward momentum arrives.

RECURRING CLASSICS

The Altar is a space to spotlight Austin’s makers, venues, causes, and collaborations.

It’s a way for us all to contribute to the city’s magic by sharing opportunities to give back, support, and strengthen the circle together.

My mom always said, “No one should spend the holidays alone”, and ATX feels the same. Check out these non-profits in Austin offering free Thanksgiving meals from now through Nov 27th.

Bathe is a magical east side spot known for their immersive wellness experiences and a nervous system optimized co-working space. They announced exciting plans to expand into Austin’s first full-service immersive bathhouse by 2027, said to include mineral pools, event sauna, herbal steam room, magnesium ice plunge, salt cave, immersive sound, and an elixir lounge, to name a few.

Bathe is launching their Indiegogo campaign today as a community-powered effort to make this dream a reality. For $25, you can lock in Dream Weavers status for up to 73% off future membership pricing and experiences.

Community Vegan, founded in 2021 by Marlon Rison and Ericka Dotson, has become a beloved Austin staple for transforming soul food into plant-based nourishment. They need the community’s help to raise funds and keep their dream (and Austin’s vegan soul) alive.

Familiar of the Week

Perhaps my favorite addition to the newsletter, we’re partnering with local rescue orgs to highlight fur babies that need homes.

The goal is to rotate these with each issue, but I decided to highlight Elly again.
She’s grown a special place in my heart and is on the urgent placement list, so it felt right to highlight her once more. I mean… look at that precious face 🥹

Meet Elly, your little love spell in fur!

She may be small, but her heart is pure magic. Elly’s favorite charms include cuddling, giving kisses, and following her humans wherever they go. She’s the perfect familiar for apartment life: a snuggly co-pilot who loves car rides, squeaky toys, and even a splash in the pool. Elly gets along beautifully with other dogs and has the potential to live with a dog-savvy cat.

If you’ve been wishing for a sweet little shadow to make every day sparkle, your spell has worked! Elly’s here to enchant your heart. 🐾

As always, I’d love to hear your feedback! Hit reply if you want to share any thoughts, gratitude reflections, or just want to say hey
